When stray pups are rescued and brought to a shelter, they often come with traumas and fears. Sometimes, we don’t know their backstory. What we do know is that they need a lot of love and care in order to get over their heartbreak.
In today’s story, we’ll talk about Lucy, a sweet shelter puppy who was overwhelmed with fear. Ever since she arrived at Austin Animal Center, in Texas, she couldn’t stop crying.
Giving Her A Lot Of LoveSource: The DodoThe shelter staff were very gentle and affectionate towards Lucy. They kept cuddling her and giving her a lot of love.
The pup let them know that she was appreciative and grateful for their care by wagging her tail. However, she still continued crying. The shelter staff were aware that she would need some time to conquer her fears.
Lucy’s leg was injured and she needed a lot of care.
When Morgan visited Lucy in her kennel, she was saddened to see her looking so frightened.
“She was so terrified. We didn’t know if it was new people or having been at the shelter because we knew there had been some trauma there,” said Morgan.
At first, Morgan planned to foster Lucy, but the adorable puppy quickly stole her heart.
“So I went into this being like, ‘We’re just fostering this puppy.’ And then two minutes into having her in my arms, I was like, ‘This dog is going to be ours.’“
The Start Of A New LifeSource: The DodoAs soon as Morgan brought Lucy home, she gave her a nice bath and the pup seemed to enjoy it.
In the beginning, Lucy was afraid of everything. She didn’t want to go outside. Whenever her moms would try to take her for a walk, she would run back inside.
Both Morgan and Emily knew that they had to give her the necessary time to relax. They were determined to help her build her confidence.
Gradually, her moms took her on longer walks, and Lucy started getting used to sounds and new people. Walking was also great for her leg.
Morgan and Emily showered the sweet canine with immense love and care. They kept telling her how much they loved her. Feeling cherished and loved like never before, Lucy began blossoming into a cheerful and confident dog who enjoyed life.
The adorable canine fit perfectly into the family. Lucy got along with her family’s cat and they became best friends. They like running around together and giving each other sweet kisses.
Her moms were enchanted with her.
“She is super lovey, super sweet! She’s so perfect,” said Morgan.
Lucy lives her best life. Her family loves her immeasurably and they can’t imagine their life without her. She found the happiness she had been looking for, and we couldn’t be happier for her.
