Officer Saves Freezing Dog Fighting For Survival, But That’s Not Even The Best Part Of The Rescue

A stray dog that almost drowned in Lake Michigan’s cold waters has found a lifelong home with a lady who saw his dramatic rescue on television.

When a passerby saw the white dog, now called Michigan, battling for his life, he slipped through the ice on the lake. She phoned the police, and cops arrived swiftly to rescue the dog.

Michigan was treated for hypothermia at the Wisconsin Humane Society while his owners were sought.

After it became evident that Michigan’s prior owners were not coming forward to claim him, numerous individuals applied to adopt him.

The Wisconsin Humane Society chose Brenda Thompson to be Michigan’s new mother after analyzing hundreds of applicants. Brenda said that she went to the shelter right away after seeing him on the news.

“I threw on some clothes and came right here.” “I’ve been here almost every day since I saw that story,” she tells TMJ4.

She’s going to make sure they get off to a good start now that she’s formally adopted him.

“The first thing I’m going to do is take him for a nice long walk,” Brenda explains. “His bed is all done up. He’ll be greeted with brand-new bowls and toys. He’s ready to leave. “I believe this is the start of a wonderful friendship.”

Michigan will also have a sibling, a black Lab acquired by Brenda after Hurricane Katrina.

Watch Brenda arrive at the shelter to pick up Michigan and share his happy ending with your friends and family!
