Man Who Cut The Throats Of Four Puppies Charged With Animal Cruelty

Five puppies were rescued from a home after their owner came home to find four had their throats cut. The Humane Society of Richland County posted photos of the puppies, who are recovering in their care and will soon be up for adoption.

“[O]ur shelter responded to a call to assist MPD with 5 puppies, 4 who had their throats cut,” the humane society in Ohio wrote on Facebook. “The person responsible has been charged with felony animal cruelty. The good news is the prognosis is good for these cuties and now the puppies can start a new chapter!”

The dogs’ owner surrendered the puppies to the shelter after she returned home from a two-day trip to discover her husband had harmed the puppies, Cleveland Scene reported. He was charged by police and taken to hospital following an attempted suicide. The police report also revealed that the woman told police that after going through her text messages, she discovered one from her husband that hinted at him trying to cut the puppy’s throats.

Three of the puppies had lacerations to their neck while another had a slice on one of his back legs.

The Humane Society of Richland County said that the one with the hurt leg did not suffer any “substantial” damage and that it “just seems sore”.

The other puppies are on the mend, and the rescue wrote, “These little babies will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks, after their injuries heal.”

The rescue revealed that they were “very upset over the situation” but want to focus on caring for the puppies, finding them a loving home and garnering ongoing help. “[While we value and appreciate your comments,” they wrote, “it isn’t going to help the puppies to condemn the person who did this. We are all sick over it. But let’s turn their early experience into something positive.”

“Donations, adoptions, volunteers, shares of this post – these are all things that we really need right now,” they continued. “Without your support, we cannot care for all of these innocent animals.”

Since posting the adorable photos of the puppies, the humane society revealed that they have received an outpouring of support. “We have had an overwhelming amount of you interested – which is great! We can’t begin to tell everyone how thankful we are to have so many of you, from our community and even from people out of our state, show support for these puppies who were injured. We are very appreciative of your kindness and generosity! It’s exactly what these pups need!”
