LSA-Powered 1969 Chevrolet El Camino Custom

This 1969 Chevrolet El Camino has undergone extensive modifications and customizations. A prominent highlight of these alterations includes the integration of a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine paired with a 4L85-E automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear differential. The body was meticulously disassembled, smoothed, and refinished in a metallic black hue, complemented by a bespoke grille and a power-bulge hood. Double-staggered Boze wheels, Wilwood disc brakes, Level 3 QA1 coilover suspension, a cross-flow aluminum radiator, a custom exhaust system with cutouts, power steering, Vintage Air climate control, TMI seats, an Alpine stereo, and numerous other features were also incorporated. Acquired by the current proprietor in 2018, this El Camino Custom is now presented on dealer consignment, complete with documentation and a clean Arizona title.

The bodywork entailed disassembly, removal of chrome and trim, and a refinishing in metallic black with dual metallic stripes adorning the hood. Polyurethane body mount bushings were utilized for enhanced durability.

Custom elements encompass a reworked headlight and grille treatment, a front bumper with an integrated lip, square exhaust outlets integrated into the rear roll pan, power-operated sport mirrors, Kindig-it Design flush door handles, and a power-bulge hood affixed on billet hinges.

The tailgate was replaced, and the bed boasts black-stained wood with chrome trim strips and a flush-mounted fuel filler.

The double-staggered Boze wheels measure 18×8″ in the front and 20×10″ in the rear, clad in 245/40 and 275/40 Nitto tires, respectively. They are mounted over Wilwood Superlite six- and four-piston calipers, paired with drilled and slotted directional rotors and braided stainless-steel lines.

A Level 3 QA1 coilover suspension features adjustable shocks, height-adjustable springs, tubular control arms, boxed lower trailing arms, adjustable frame braces, and front and rear sway bars. Additionally, a power steering rack from Summit Racing was installed.

Pro-Series Sport-GT seats from TMI are upholstered in Titanium with black accents and red contrast stitching. Matching upholstery covers the dashboard, door panels, center console, and the 14″ polished steering wheel, which is mounted on a powder-coated tilt column. The headliner and A-pillar trim were also sourced from TMI, and the Vintage Air climate-control system is operated via a panel mounted below the touchscreen Alpine stereo. The vehicle features keyless entry and automatic locking.

Control buttons for the start-stop function and electric exhaust cutout, as well as a gear selection panel, are located behind the cupholder. The parking brake is electrically actuated.

Carbon-look replacement gauges and paddle shifters have been installed, with the digital odometer displaying 80 miles. Total chassis mileage remains unknown.

The engine bay has been smoothed, housing a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 crate engine from Midway Chevrolet. The engine cover is custom painted to match the car, and gloss-red valve covers, an LSX Concepts high-mount accessory drive, and ceramic-coated Hedman Husler headers were fitted. The car also includes a cross-flow aluminum radiator, AN fittings, a billet brake booster, and an aluminum vacuum reservoir.

The 4L85-E transmission was installed at the time of the build and is connected to a Ford 9″ rear end. The frame was powder-coated, and the body was undercoated. The dual exhaust system features electric cutouts.
