A dog who went missing after she has been spooked by fireworks found her way home and rang the doorbell to be let back inside.
Rajah had vanished from her family home seven hours earlier, giving her owner, Mary Whitacre, a terrible fright. The woman from Greenville, South Carolina, USA, told SWNS that Rajah was in the backyard playing with her other dog when her neighbor started shooting off fireworks. Knowing Rajah would be scared she went to check on her. “I went to the backyard – and she was gone.”
What followed was seven long hours of worry as Mary and her husband Ryan went to look for Rajah. They posted a message to social media and recruited friends to help. It was 3a.m. in the morning when the doorbell rang.
The doorbell security cam showed Rajah poking her nose on the ringer.
“Ryan was up waiting around to see if she’d pop up. He saw her on the porch, and he ran off and got her,” said Mary.
When they got back inside, Rajah seemed to think she was in trouble as Mary said she was “sad and sulking.” Maybe it was because she was covered in thorns and “seemed to have rolled in poop.” “So, it seems like she had a great time,” joked Mary. But Mary and Ryan were just so happy to have her back although they are unsure exactly how she knew about the doorbell.
Said Mary, “I don’t even know how she knew how to do that, I’ve never shown her how.”
She later posted an update to Facebook reassuring everyone that Rajah was doing fine after her unexpected disappearance.
