Poor Twinkle. After being rescued from the streets of Miami as a stray last Spring, everyone thought she had found her forever home, including Twinkle. But she, and True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission were heartbroken when “Twinkle was returned to our rescue after 4 months because she wanted to sleep in bed with her new mommy and daddy.”
It all began last June when True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission rescued Twinkle. She had rotting teeth and was emaciated, but she got the vet care she needed and recovered. Three months later she was adopted into a nice family with other dogs. But four months later, the family emailed the rescue saying Twinkle was not working out for them.
Her new parents don’t let their senior dogs (they have other dogs) sleep on the bed with them. But Twinkle didn’t understand that and would scream all night because she wanted to sleep on the bed with them, explained Madison Mulvihill, social media coordinator at True and Faithful Pet Rescue.
Mulvihill told The Dodo, that Twinkle was upset and confused as to what was happening. “I remember walking [into] the main dog room to see she was sitting in the corner on a dog bed, closed off and shaking with fear. She looked at you with such confusion on her face and pain in her heart.”
Everyone at the rescue was as devastated as Twinkle.
They posted the news to TikTok asking for help finding a home “that will let Twinkle sleep in bed with ALL of her new siblings.”
Mulvihill told the Dodo that Twinkle loves attention and is “a total snuggle bug” in addition to being leash trained and getting along with other dogs. She added that Twinkle isn’t shy asking for attention: “She will paw at your hand when she wants to be scratched.”
There was an outpouring of support for Twinkle and the rescue was flooded with adoption applications for her. And one panned out!
Twinkle will be joining a family with six dogs and a king-sized bed – plenty of room for her to snuggle up to her new family. The rescue thanked everyone that applied and promised to provide an update of Twinkle once she is settled into her new home.
