Supercharged LSA-Powered 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe 5-Speed

 

This 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe underwent a plethora of modifications before being acquired by the present owner in 2022. Now cloaked in Porsche Fashion Grey, it boasts a carbon-fiber hood and a decklid spoiler, elevating its aesthetic appeal. Beneath the hood, a robust supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine is coupled with a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox and a Detroit Locker differential, providing a formidable powertrain. The vehicle is set upon 18″ Rushforth wheels wrapped in high-performance BFGoodrich tires, all underscored by a state-of-the-art coilover suspension system

The cabin presents an amalgamation of luxury and performance, featuring black Procar Elite bucket seats, a center console from a 5th-generation Camaro, and a Hurst shifter. An Alpine head unit, replete with advanced connectivity options, orchestrates a symphony of sound from high-caliber audio components. The car’s ability to maintain optimum temperature is ensured by a Vintage Air climate control system. Additional enhancements include tubular headers, a high-capacity Griffin aluminum radiator, and comprehensive video surveillance capabilities through front- and rear-facing cameras.

The exterior received a new coat of paint during the 2021 refurbishment in the distinguished Porsche Fashion Grey. This refresh included the addition of a carbon-fiber hood, rear spoiler, and a dynamic front air dam. Aesthetic flourishes are further complemented by LED illumination and meticulously crafted Ring Brothers side mirrors.

Connectivity and sound are seamlessly integrated via an Alpine unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth, linked to an ensemble of Digital Designs amplifiers, Focal speakers, and a Fi Audio subwoofer, all housed within a custom trunk setup.

A Sparco steering wheel, wrapped in microsuede and marked by a yellow centering stripe, commands the front. It overlooks a carbon-fiber dashboard that accommodates AutoMeter Pro-Comp gauges and a digital display. Auxiliary indicators are strategically placed near the Hurst shifter, providing critical performance data at a glance. The odometer indicates 6,000 miles, accrued post-modification, with total mileage remaining unknown.

The powertrain’s heart, a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8, was installed in 2014 and features enhancements like high-flow intake piping, a BTR stage 3 camshaft, and large-capacity fuel injectors. Cooling is managed by a Griffin aluminum radiator, while a ZL1-style intercooler pump has been integrated into a custom mount. The vehicle’s fuel storage and delivery systems have been thoroughly upgraded. A 2015 dynamometer test recorded the engine’s output at an impressive 551 horsepower and 456 lb-ft of torque.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a robust Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission and a fortified 10-bolt rear end, which includes a Detroit Locker differential and upgraded axles. Exhaust gases escape through tubular headers linked to a dual-exit system equipped with Flowmaster-style mufflers, completing the extensive suite of modifications that define this unique 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe.
