It was a sad day in St. Louis. That’s what the dismayed rescuers at Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote in August after a female dog suffering from gunshots was brought in for emergency surgery. They named her Princess Rosie. Her face had only been grazed by a bullet but her front legs were not so lucky.
Each of her legs had been shot “at least once” the rescue group shared on Facebook.
“One of her front legs has three broken bones and the other has a small fracture,” they said. Additionally, they were infected, which meant a long healing journey would be ahead of her.
Thankfully, Rosie’s surgery went well and she was patched up. Her legs were put in casts and a week later she was on her feet. She was also full of milk. “She was brought in as an emergency so we don’t have the faintest idea where her puppies could be,” rescuers explained. Sadly they shared, “We were told that they all sold already. It’s horrible to think about. We just hope they are old enough to be without their mom and that they are ok.”
A few weeks into her healing journey, Stray Rescue revealed, “Princess Rosie is the sweetest girl to walk this earth.”
When she had to be sedated so her bandages could be changed she fell asleep with her watermelon toy in her mouth.
They began to look for a foster caregiver, who could “give her a relaxing and cuddly place to heal after being shot in both of her front legs.” Maybe transforming into a unicorn for Halloween would entice the right person?
Finding foster caregivers has been a challenge for the Missouri-based rescue and as of October 27, Princess Rosie is still looking for a foster family to take care of her.
So the rescue, with the help of a local help, decided it was time for Princess Rosie to get a night on the town to relax and have some fun.
“Princess Rosie was busted out of the shelter by our Clinic Caregiver, Molly, and they enjoyed a night of luxury together at the Angad Arts Hotel! She was SO. EXCITED,” they wrote and shared some adorable photos of Rosie enjoying her hotel stay.
Molly shared, “Thank you for giving Princess Rosie and I this opportunity! We both had a blast! I can’t believe someone shot this angel. She’s quite literally the sweetest dog, she insisted on cuddling all night. I hope someone sees these pictures and takes her home!”
“She’s looking for a foster home where she can rest as peacefully as she did last night!”
