A cat saved from the rubble after the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey has decided to stay with his rescuers. The cat has not left the rescue workers for days. Wherever they go, he goes with them. In a heartwarming video clip shared on Reddit, the white and black cat is seen perched on one of the firefighters working to find survivors.
One redditor shared a translation of the interview. The fireman reveals how the cat is one of the pets they have rescued. He was rescued shortly after the rescue of another cat. “On the fourth day of the earthquake, we rescued a cat. We handed the cat over to her owner. We rescued this cat the next day,” the man explains.
While he talks the cat nuzzles his chin.
“We named him Enkaz (rubble), because we brought him out of hell. It might sound a little off-putting, but we wanted him to be a memory this way. We share everything we eat and drink here with Enkaz,” he continues.
“The cat did not leave our side either. We are also trying to search some clues because maybe we will find the owner of the cat. But he’s not leaving. I see a sadness in this cat. I keep him by my side especially in case the owner comes.”
While the rescuer talks, he pets the cat and smiles. It’s clear there’s affection between the two.
The man adds, “But if the owner doesn’t come out, I’m thinking of taking him with me, it will be a memory.”

Enkaz is just one of the touching pet rescues that have happened in the last week. A cat naked Cilek was rescued after his owner, university student Kerem Cetin, insisted that his cat be saved first.
Another rescue saw Pamuk the dog freed after she was buried under the rubble for more than 90 days.
