Dog Brought To Hospital To say Goodbye To Her Dying Owner

Mollie has always been devoted to her human, 33-year-old Ryan Jessen. She was always by his side, so when he was hospitalized after suffering a brain hemorrhage that he would not recover from, his family brought her to his bedside to say goodbye.

Jessen’s sister, Michelle, described on Facebook what happened next:

“The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to ‘say goodbye’ so she’d know why her human never came home. If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog.”

Here is the family’s video of the emotional moment.

It is never easy to say a final goodbye to a loved one, although Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, California, was kind enough to let a dog called Mollie bid farewell to her owner, Ryan Jessen, on November 30.

Jessen died that very same day from a ventricular brain hemorrhage at the age of 33, Michelle said on Facebook.

Although the video was likely meant for their immediate friends and family, it has touched hearts of people all over the world. The family says that they have been “sincerely touched and humbled” by the kindness and support they have received from so many people.

Michelle made sure to reassure everyone that Mollie will be well-looked after. “Don’t worry about the dog! We’re keeping her!!! She’s part of the family.”

Our thoughts go out to the family in their time of loss.
