1950 Chevrolet COE Tow Truck

This 1950 Chevrolet Advance Design cab-over-engine tow truck, reportedly refurbished about 20 years ago, has been with the selling dealer since 2011. The truck features a red exterior with brown vinyl upholstery and is powered by an inline-six engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with a Holmes wrecker body, complete with a winch and sling, along with other features such as a dually rear axle, roof-mounted emergency beacon, truck mirrors, and running boards. The truck is being sold with a Maryland title.

Previously refinished in red with a white bumper, the truck includes an amber emergency beacon, driving lights, running boards, cowl vents, cab steps, and mud flaps. The wrecker bed is fitted with a winch, sling, j-hooks, rear-facing work lights, and side-mounted controls. Some blemishes can be seen on various body panels.

The truck rides on white-painted 20″ steel wheels fitted with mixed 7.50-series front and 8.25-series rear tires, and it uses drum brakes for stopping power.

Inside, the cabin features a bench seat upholstered in brown vinyl, with green sheet metal and black door panels that show signs of wear. Additional features include a handbrake, heater, driver’s sun visor, and fire extinguisher. Rust is visible in the passenger footwell.

The three-spoke steering wheel shows cracks and peeling paint, featuring a Chevrolet-branded horn button and a Brodie knob. The factory instruments include an 80-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage, with three aftermarket gauges mounted under the dash. The five-digit odometer reads 4k miles, though actual mileage is unknown, as indicated by the “Not Actual Mileage” odometer brand on the Maryland title.

The gasoline-powered inline-six engine drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dually rear axle.
