1949 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window Pickup 4-Speed

This 1949 Chevrolet 3100 is a five-window pickup that underwent refurbishment under previous ownership and was acquired by the seller on BaT in January 2024. The truck reportedly received a rebuild of its replacement 235ci inline-six engine, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is finished in yellow with brown leather upholstery and features 16″ steel wheels, drum brakes, driving lights, a windshield visor, tinted windows, a wood-lined bed floor, blue-dot taillights, a cassette stereo, and a banjo-style Grant steering wheel. The Advance Design pickup is currently offered with a Texas title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was repainted in yellow under previous ownership and received replacement glass, bumpers, and oak wood bed planks with stainless-steel runners. The bed’s interior is coated in body-color bedliner material. Other exterior features include headlight hoods, yellow driving lights, a chrome grille and bumpers, a split windshield, tinted windows, a windshield visor, dual side-view mirrors, running boards, and blue-dot taillights.

The truck’s body-color 16″ steel wheels, adorned with chrome hubcaps featuring red Chevrolet lettering, are fitted with 235/85 Nexen Roadian HTX RH5 tires with 2019 date codes. The braking system, consisting of four-wheel drums, reportedly received a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses, and shoes during previous ownership.

Inside the cab, a bench seat is upholstered in brown leather, with tan carpeting extending throughout the footwells, rear cab, and lower door panels. Additional interior details include hand-crank windows, a heater, and a cassette stereo. It is reported that the dashboard components and controls were replaced under previous ownership.

A wood-rimmed banjo-style Grant steering wheel sits in front of a replacement 80-mph speedometer and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and battery status. The speedometer and fuel gauge are noted to show approximately half of the actual readings, and the five-digit odometer reads 467 miles, although the total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 235ci inline-six engine, installed under previous ownership along with a new radiator, features a single downdraft carburetor and a 12-volt electrical system with a chrome-covered alternator. The seller mentions that the oil and coolant were changed in 2022 and that the battery was replaced in January 2024. The engine rebuild was performed by Nolasco Automotive in San Antonio between June and July 2024.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission, with the transmission and differential fluids reportedly changed in 2022. The differential and torque tube are noted to have minor fluid weeping.
